What does the field study?
The educational institutions and schooling systems of different countries in a comparative manner. It gathers information on the state of education in a country and compares the results to those of other countries in order to maintain and improve the competitive edge of a country. (See Rinne et al., 2008)
What questions does the field examine?
How do the educational systems differ from one country to another? Which methods yield the best learning outcomes in different countries? How much do countries invest in education and how does it show in the learning outcomes?
