Learning environments refer to the spaces, places, communities, practices and supplies that promote learning and interaction. Besides the physical space, a learning environment encompasses the psychological and social dimensions that are meant to promote learning, such as psychological security and atmosphere. In digital learning environments, learning is promoted through information and communication technologies. The environments of education and early childhood education are called formal learning environments. Informal learning environments include family and hobbies, for example.
