Education

Education is both a social and individual activity. Education cannot occur without an encompassing public by which individuals acquire the skills to realize their potential (see Rinne, Kivirauma & Lehtinen, 2004, 7).

William Frankena defines education as the intentional promotion of essential developmental skills for growth through appropriate ethical standards. By doing so solidifies the central questions and answers of education regarding what is considered valuable and what kind of activities are used to achieve goals. Educational methods, practices, and goals are moulded historically, culturally, and by the surrounding society. Education and growth continue throughout human life.
